Water Sports
On most days you can look out over Lake Lanier and see hundreds of lake users - fishing, sailing, skiing or skimming across the lake. The Corps promotes safe boating and encourages you to obey the "rules of the road" and be courteous to other lake users. All federal, state and local laws are strickly enforced. Boaters are reminded that boating under the influence of alcoholic beverages is a serious offense.
While many lake hazards are marked by standard navigation signs, boaters should be watchful for submerged stumps, logs, rocks, and shallow water. To protect the lake's water quality, boaters are prohibited from dumping raw or treated sewage into the lake. For easy access to the lake, 10 marinas operate to serve most of your boating needs while the Corps maintains 54 convenient boat launching lanes with parking facilities.
Boaters may explore over 100 islands that dot the lake. Many of these islands have secluded coves and beaches that are perfect recreational spots for those who want to relax in the quiet of nature.
