Shane Watson Guide Service Report 11-01-11.
We are continuing to see great Fall topwater fishing most mornings and late afternoons. Spro Dawgs, Bone Spooks, and Chicken Scratch Redfins are working best when the stripers have been busting on top. We've also had some great downlining in the mouths of creeks and out over the main channel when the fish have been up in the water column and active. Some of these schools have been amazing in size. Nothing like seeing your screen blacked out with a school of fish 60 feet thick.

Shane Watson Guide Service Report 10-3-11.
With these cooler nights we are seeing bigger stripers moving up shallow on Lake Lanier. Our biggest fish this past week was 25 pounds and we had several more in the 18 to 22 pound range. We've had some tremendous top water schooling at times and caught stripers on Spro Dawgs, Bone Spooks, Sebile's, and on a Live Target. We've caught smaller stripers on down lined blue backs over a 30 foot bottom on and just off points. We've also caught a few on a free line, but blind free lining is hit or miss at best. Look for the free line to improve, as more and more fish move shallow up on points, as the surface temps drop into the 60's.
Also, free lining will improve out over open water, as more fish begin busting on the surface. The stripers are moving around a lot and you best bet is to keep moving until you find active fish on the surface. You can blind free line and may catch 2 stripers. You can ride and find them active on top and may catch 10 or 15 stripers casting lures. The surface temps are down in the low 70's and we looking for a good top water fall season. There are also stripers biting Long A Bombers on the south end from 7 till midnight on windy points and sandy pockets. Historically, the night bomber bite is best when the lake is down and all the sandy beaches are exposed. Pink or the baby striper colors are best.

Shane Watson Guide Service Report 09-14-11. The surface temps are cooling on Lake Lanier and are now in the 70's. This trend towards fall has brought some good size schools of stripers and big spots busting on the surface this week. We've caught these fish on Spro Dawgs, Mc Sticks, and Spooks. The smaller stripers have been up busting along with spots on humps and points. Leadcore has been up and down.
U-rigs and down lined blue backs are producing good numbers of smaller stripers over a 30 to 40 foot bottom. We are seeing our better sized stripers on top water lures when they are busting out over the channel or when you are graphing them down 90 to 120 feet deep on bluebacks.
Over the next 60 days you are apt to see some great top water fishing on the stripers and spots both mornings and late afternoons.

Since my last report, the striper fishing has been great most days on Lake Lanier. Your best bet is to fish a 1 oz white Spro or Capt.Mack jig with a Shadalicious trailer 9 colors out at 3.0 mph. Downlined bluebacks fished 40 to 100 feet deep over the main channel and in deep creek channels have also been working well on our boats.
Capt. Mack's 4 arm u-rigs are also producing. There are smaller stripers over a 35 to 50 foot bottom around points and humps, but all of the 15 to 25 pound fish we've caught the last 2 weeks have been out over deeper water and over deep timber.

Shane Watson Guide Service Report 08-19-11. Nothing much has changed on the stripers on our boats. This morning they were on leadcore out over the channel early and our biggest striper was 20 pounds. A 1 oz white jig with a Shadalicious trailer 9 colors out is working best on my boat. We are also catching stripers on downlines in the mouths of creeks and over the main channel down 40 to 100 feet. Keep moving until you find active fish. Overall, the striper fishing has been up and down for most of us.
We've had days in the last couple weeks when we've caught 20 to 30 and the next day work to catch a few. Having said that, when it's been good, it's been really good.
