Shane Watson Guide Service, End of the Week Report (08-10-08). Last Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday the striper fishing was very good. Saturday was slower. Today, Sunday was very good. What a difference a day makes. Yesterday's strong east wind and scattered fish were replaced with a calm lake and strong fishing this morning. The downline bite and the leadcore bite, both were very good at mid-lake and further south, over and just off of the main channel. All of our bigger fish were caught out over the channel and this continued most of the morning. We caught some smaller fish at the end of our trip over a 70-75 foot bottom down 60 feet, but most of our fish were caught out over the main channel. Our fish this morning ranged in size from 5-18 pounds. Overall, it was great to be out there this morning. The fishing and the weather was perfect. This report is brought to you by Shane Watson Guide Service and Hammond's Fishing Center. We appreciate everyone's business and hope everyone enjoyed the blueback lottery on Saturday.

Shane Watson Guide Service Sunday Report. The striper fishing has been very good this week and this morning was no exception. The stripers were biting very well 40-60 feet deep over a 80-100 foot bottom on downline bluebacks. Fish from the mouths to the middle of southend creeks and you will find fish. There are still some smaller fish (5 to 12 pounders) on a 40 foot bottom, for the first 2 hours each morning. These fish are smaller but it is a good way to get some action early and then head out deeper after the sun gets overhead. We've caught and released many, many stripers this week up to 20 pounds on our boats. Overall, The striper fishing remains very good if you are on the fish and your bait is of good size and good quality. Change your bait frequently. Half dead, weak bait will not produce, especially if you are fishing in a big group of boats. This report is brought to you by Shane Watson Guide Service and Hammond's Fishing Center. Good Fishing

Shane Watson Guide Service Report (6-24-08). I just back from vacation in Panama City and the fishing down there was very good. The King Mackerel bite was the best I've seen in 7 or 8 years. We caught all of our Kings freelining live LY's on near shore wrecks. We jigged and live bait fished Amberjack over wrecks and structure over a 90 to 100 feet bottom and did very well. We caught those things till arms were about to fall off. The Red Snapper fishing was also very good. While I was gone, I had our boats out on trips everyday and they had many 30-40 striper, catch and release trips. They also had some slower days as well. Downline bluebacks are working best, fished 25-35 feet deep over the main channel up the lake and in the mouths of creeks and deeper coves just off the main lake down south. The bait at the store looks really good right now and is perfect for downlining. The leadcore bite is also picking up on Capt. Mack's 1 oz. white jigs, tipped with a live blueback, fished 7 to 8 colors out on 27 pound leadcore. Trolling works well as you can catch fish and scout at the same time. Once you come over a good school and hook up on leadcore, you can usually stop on those fish and really work on them well with bluebacks. I will start back fishing tommorrow and will report again when something changes. This report is brought to you by Shane Watson Guide Service and Hammond's Fishing Center. Good Fishing.

Shane Watson Guide Service Report. I've had our boats out everyday on trips since our last report and nothing has changed. The striper fishing remains good. Downlined bluebacks fished 30-60 feet deep over a 70-80 foot bottom in the middle of southend and mid-lake creeks and in deeper bays just off the main lake are working best. There are a wide range of sizes being caught right now depending on where you fish. The further up the lake you go, the smaller they are for the most part. Downsouth and mid-lake, the average size fish is much better. The leadcore bite is fair and will improve in the coming weeks. We've had many people call and e-mail saying they are getting window shopped really bad at times and can't get the fish to bite when they get on them. This happens to everyone at times, but there are things that will help. Use a 5 or 6 foot piece of 12 pound Seaguar Flourocarbon leader, an Eagle Claw #1 Red Kahle hook or a #1 Red Octopus hook in your favorite brand. Use 15 pound clear or pink Ande Mono on your main line. Make sure your bait is decent size and of good quality. Bait that is weak, bad looking, and small will cause the fish to window shop and not bite just as bad as having the wrong terminal tackle. Make sure you are fishing deep enough. Change your bait frequently when getting shopped. Letting your bait all the way down and wind it up though the school will often fire them up. Also, crank your big motor and let it run, this sometimes will cause them to bite. Sometimes, the stripers are on the move and will pass under your boat and you can't get a bite. There is nothing you can do in that situation. Keep moving and try to find some more that will feed. We apprecicate everyone's questions, maybe some of this info will help. The bait at the store has been really good lately and is perfect size for downlining. This report is brought you by Shane Watson Guide Service and Hammond's Fishing Center. Good Fishing.

Shane Watson Guide Service Report for Tuesday 5-27-08. The downline striper bite has been very good the last week both south and up north. Our boats have been out everyday and downline bluebacks fished 20 feet deep over a 25-35 feet slick bottom has produced best. Expect a wide range of sizes from 5-20 pounds being most common. We have also caught and released many very big spotted bass that have been mixed in with the schools of stripers. I have seen a good many busting stripers and spots the past few days, but we were getting great action on the downline so we stayed with it. Memorial weekend was very good inspite of the boat traffic. We ran trips from 6:30 till 10:30 and got off the lake before things got crazy. Overall, the downline bite is very good, but you can still catch a few on a freeline early most days and when its cloudy. The numbers of fish have been very good, please remember that catch and release does work. If you do keep fish, please observe GA. DNR creel limits. This report is brought to you by Shane Watson Guide Service and Hammond's Fishing Center. Good Fishing.
