great that all these comments are there....so where is the response from the corp. You all are are barking at the cops...when clearly they are just following orders. You need to focus on your legislatures. The gov will pipe up when it becomes beneficial to his re-election. Clearly the system is broken. Maybe the children on wall street can be convinced to do a sit in on Lake Lanier. Have them occupy all the abandon docks sitting on dirt. Or better yet...have them ask their parents for money to get a house boat...and occupy the dam area!

lakeman, just a comment. I agree with a lot of what you have said, however factual statements mean more than suppositions. I mean like who made these decisions? No one will ever know. We can all guess as to what the real reasons were, but the fact remains that the COE doesn't care a flip about property values, business owners on the lake, etc. Weather controls all!

Just my simple opinion: Was it politics that made the Corps discharge the ridiculous amount of water out of this lake duing the drought? The Corps, as much as people want to criticize, is not stupid. They knew all too well they were letting way way way too much water out of the lake. Were they letting the water out so that Gwinnett could get their discharge pipe in the lake? Probably. Was it for Lake Lanier Islands to get their new sewage treatment facility up and running? Probably. Was it for Forsyth Co/City of Cumming to set their intakes lower? Maybe. Was it just to put the screw to all the great people who live on and enjoy the lake, to show them who's boss on Lake Lanier? Maybe just a bit. We ALL KNOW it had absolutely NOTHING to do with Mussels and Fish! What caused the record low lake levels? Contrary to popular belief, it wasn't the drought. It wasn't the Corps acting alone. It was our own government that told the Corps of Engineers what to do. Our government ordered the draw down of our lake, without telling us the real reason, costing the good hard working, tax paying people of this great area, a ton of money, and a ton of inconvenience. Not to mention a massive real estate value plunge. You can't blame it on the Corps, and you can't blame it on the drought. The massive discharges were man-made, and man ordered. Wouldn't it be nice to know who ordered the discharges? Thanks!

1070 by 12/1? No way, especially not with the recent rain - seems as if we're getting 3 years of accumulated rain in 3 months.

Well, they stopped discharges Sat and Sun! A little inflow still happening so Lake went up a little. The one thing for sure is that the COE's goal of getting to full winter pool of 1070 by 12/1 is not going to happen. Maybe their listening, like Big Brother or something? Are they holding water? God forbid!

the lake is going down about a .25in per day. The COE can't let out more than it's doing now. That 12/1 date is fast approaching for full winter pool. Why don't they just leave well enough alone, and stop at 1071, the number we all appreciate. It will take them over a month to reach 1070 at this rate, which doesn't take into account any inflow.

Well, I guess I was wrong. The COE is dropping level by a huge amount. They are trying really hard to get that level down to full winter pool of 1070 by 12/1. It might be a little bit later but they will do it, without additional rain.

Folks, does it look like the COE is holding water in the lake even after the recent rain? Check the discharge and generation and you will see the cut back. Remember they wanted to bring the level down to 1070 by 12/1? Are all our concerns being listened to? I don't think so, but their reactions look really good to me. Let's wait and see.
