Why is it that we give our water away to States that are not even on water restrictions? Does anyone also realize that when we get rain, Alabama gets it first and probably more of it since storms weaken on the way eastward from there? I have paid county tax, advalorem tax, storage fees, and now city school taxes from a city that I don't even live in just to have my boat sit in dry storage. Are there no tax breaks for boat owners who are stuck with boats that cannot be used or even sold? I am very sick of the greedy tax mongers in our government. WC Bailey

Agreed, dlaney Unfortunately we seem to have reached a situation where its state versus state. Lake Lanier and Atlanta are on one side, struggling against the Alabama and Florida. I figure the long-term solution isn't going to revolve around how we divide up the pie but: 1) how we grow the pie 2) how we reduce people's appetite

The city of Atlanta is not a threat to Lake Lanier. To the contrary, since Atlanta is dependent on Lake Lanier for drinking water, it has every incentive to keep Lake Lanier full and healthy. The downstream interests in Alabama, Florida and the Gulf are the ones who have gone to court to require increased discharges from Lake Lanier. Atlanta and Lake Lanier are allies in the struggle to save Lake Lanier.
