Is the driving tour six and a half miles or seven and a half miles long? Both distances are listed in the promotion.

Thanks

Can you get out of your car to take a picture of the light with you? like standing beside it? thanks! And if I'm bringing my daughter and a bunch of her friends can they sit in the truck bed while we drive through?

they usually discourage people from stopping and getting out of their car for pictures - it just creates a slight backup if there is a steady stream of cars. however, if you happen to hit a time when there's no one behind you ~

does anyone know where the link is to the discounted entry fee? i'm going to be needed that discount.

Unbelievable!! Seriously?? $60 per car?? To see the same lights?? Definitely NOT worth it in my opinion. Went once and seen it, done it, would NOT pay $60 to go again. Especially in this ecomony!

I have to agree as well. $40+ is outrageous to see the same thing. And they are so spaced out. That's is why it is so long. You see a little display, drive a couple 100 yards and then you finally see another. Life University is the way to go! It is free and absolutely fantastic! and also have little extra attractions for the kids. (at no extra charge).

This really upsets me that the prices have gone up this much for the same light show. We were planning on goin with our 2 kids but it looks like we will have to find other people to go together with to split the cost and save some money. Or maybe just not go at all.

I'm shocked at the price increase too. I did a little research and found that you can buy the tickets online and print them and save about $7.00. https://t3.clicknprint.com/tix/SilverStream/Pages/pgIndex.html?siteID=688

Wow! Save $7. This is far and away the biggest rip off of the season. Granted they have improved roads, etc. But the show better be over the top!

I had $5 disccount coupon and went to M.N.o.L on Mon Nov23 for $35. BUT it is outragous to charge $60 on Fri - Sun for the exact same light show just because it's the weekend. It would be better to offer $40 everyday rather than loose business on the weekend because of high prices This is a ripoff.

The summer pass is not good for the Light show. I purchased the annual pass when we visited in June because I was told that it was good for the Christmas Light Show. My wife and kids were in the car when we were told that. Upon arriving for the Light Show we were told the exact opposite plus we were told that they never would have told us that. I understand if it's not but when you tell me some thing I expect it to be the truth. Then the person in the booth was angry and belidgerent towards us. A simple "I'm sorry you were told incorrectly" would have been just fine and I would not have blasted the person for their rudeness and disrespect.

********Please, Please read this*****

Upon driving through the light show you will find that you are basically moving at a very, very slow speed. Maybe 5 or 10 miles per hour at the most. It is very difficult for one to get the full effect of the beautiful Christmas Lights when the vehicle behind you has their head lights on, glaring in your rear window, rear-view mirror and outside mirrors. Headlights and driving lights are not needed. You move at a slow rate of speed and there are plenty of lights to light up the area enough to see other cars. So please, enjoy the Christmas Lights and respect the enjoyment of other families and individuals.

Thank You Very Much!!

You can go for $33 on weeknights at Lanier. You'd pay $40 for a family of 3 for weeknights at Callaway and that's only if you purchase your tickets in advance, otherwise it would be $58. Callaway charges more for weekends also, most places do because you have to have more staff to handle the larger volume of people. Maybe these price hikes will have more people driving through neighborhoods again.

When we found out the prices to go this year it was such a let down.
I take my children every year. We have just had our third, & were so hype about the season until we looked up the information as we always do. The prices go up from year to year & I am sad to say that we will not be attending this year.I think it will surely hurt their income. A hint for new ppl to the scene * take your own hotcoco , its so fun as you drive through! * Dont drive fast even if the shmuck behind you is pushing you up the roadsmilies/smiley.gif yes, the children can sit in your lap or in the back of a truck once you actually enter the sight. The Prices were already outrageous, as far as a skewer with three marshmellows being $4, so id pack those two, they have two firepits. theres a live nativity scene that we've never seen due to the long lines , however; maybe you'd get to see it this year with the costs. the park always has a small fair like section that you have to pay for rides, consessions, face painting & such as well as a large selection of various decorated christmas trees with many ornaments to purchase for est. 5 bucks+ , & santa clause (the cheapest package of two photos was like $20) so with all the additives you have to buy in going, its a bummer to have such a large peak in price. Happy Holidays Guys & Gals! Be Blest!

Habersham county ...Cornelia Park has a small adorable set up...its free and you can make coco & go through it as many times as youd like!

We travelled from TN to be with family here in GA. We loaded up two cars full of kids and adults. Our GA family said last year it was about $30/car (already a high price to look at Christmas lights). This year we went last night thinking it was going to be an even higher $45. Imagine our surprise when we found out for two cars it was going to cost us $120!!! To look at Christmas lights! On Thanksgiving! I thought prices were supposed to go down on holidays! Even with the money in hand, the gatekeepers would not accept it and told us to turn our cars around. What a let down. I hope the management/owner/whoever reads this and reconsiders charging these rediculous prices when we all know that the economy is the way it is.

I heard about the beautiful display and anticipated joining in the festivities to kick off the Christmas season. Upon entering the site I saw the price structure. Unfortunately, I am not part of the rich and famous. I did a u-turn and saved $60.00. In a time when most working people are struggling and could use a boost of holiday cheer, there is always someone who has no qualms about charging a premium price for a minimal amount of enjoymentsmilies/sad.gif

Well it looks like Lanier Islands just shot themselves in the foot this year! But they have to pay for all those improvements they made last year; the new entrance, the redecorated bridge, the round-a-bouts, the newly redesigned golf course, the new lodge and cabins, and the list goes on. Also includes rude gatekeepers! Folks, just stay away and they will get the message. Happy Holidays to everyone.

Thanks for the comments. those with the high prices made our decision easy. Maybe attendance will drop so severely that they will have to make the prices reasonable again. It won't happen if people let the big companies run over them and fork out for the over-priced tickets.

Just took my family of 4 to Magical Nights of Lights and had a fabulous time. I was glad to see the new lights- the huge carousel was awesome! My kids are finally old enough to enjoy the carnival rides. They thought roasting marshmallows and drinking hot chocolate at the firepit was "cool." Some of the above posts are mis-informed, we looked into going to Stone Mountain and Callaways light shows: if you look you'll notice they charge PER PERSON and not per car like Magical Nights of Lights. Lake Lanier Islands is practically in our backyard and we think definitely the light show to see. It is a better deal to go during the week and purchase your ticket online. We had a blast!

I had some family come in from out of town my niece wanted to go to see the lights I figured it would be 40 dollars for a car load when
we went there you raised the price this year.Do you realize we are in a reccesion and you have three sponsors georgia electric McDonalds and chick fa la.And after we went thru we all needed to
use the bathroom's there was no soap or toilet paper in womens room
and no paper towels.I work in the customer service buisness and talk to alot of people and I will tell them dont waste your money there was to be new lights there this year but there was very little. From now on I will go to stone Mt or calaway gardens.

I have enjoyed the lights at the lake for many, many years. This year, I was so excited b/c my brother and family were here to visit and enjoy the lights with us. I was pleasantly surprised at first when we discovered absolutely no lines and no waiting, a big change from past years. We got sticker shock when we learned that the lights were $60 instead of the $25 we have paid in the past. This is insane! We had the money, but refused to enter and pay that outrageous amount. I am not going back to Lake Lanier lights unless they come to their senses and make the prices reasonable again. No wonder there were no lines. Those people have lost their minds!

I have been coming to lake Lanier to see the wonderful CHRISTmas lights for several years. BUT!!! this year is a complete joke.
In fact, It's a complete rip off.
Last year I paid $40.00 on a saturday to see the lights and even then I thaught that was a little High but I paid it only because It takes me 2 hours one way to get there.
It will be a Frosen day in Hell before I come to Lake Lanier again.
Next year I'll drive a little farther to stone mountain to see a real CHRISTmas light show.
I was told by several of the associates who work the park attraction that the man giving away boiled peanuts tonight at the fair ground area is the owner of the attraction and the entire magical light show and festivities.
When I came to speak with you tonight the only thing that I got out of you was "want some boiled peanut"
It's Bad enough that were getting screwed over by our government. ITS CHRISTMAS FOR GOD SAKES !!!!!!!!!
This year the trail was alot shorter than last year; I know because I was there. Believe me Its not worth the money.
The $60.00 that I spent tonight could have been another Christmas persent for my son.
Look Mr. Boiled Peanut Man, Im not going to pay for your Yacht on the lake. You can do this attraction at a desent price and still make a good profit.
O-before I forget, the blond woman at the front gate tonight was quite rude to me when I asked her why did the price go up so high.
Thanks for the joke, I didnt think your attraction was worth the money.
Michael. R
P.S.
I hope every body has a chance to read this letter before they go to see the CHRISTMAS lights at the lake.

December 06, 2009

Sorry, I don't care if its 20 miles of lights now $40 for a car is just too high for a normal year. Is Lanier Islands even aware of the current economic situation? Perhaps they soon will learn the hard way.

I want to go to see my grandaughter of 4 yrs old sing at the Santa's Work Shop on December 10th at 7:00 PM and I just got off the phone with a lady at Lanier Islands who told me I have to pay $40 and have to go through the light tour to get to the Santa Shop. I am coming from Norcross and have to get out 5:00 from work and can't get out earlier. I will never make it there on time to see her yet on time yet alone pay $40 to go through a tour I don't need to go through my myself. This is terrible!!!!!!! She said there is no short cut way of going to Santa's Work Shop - I must go through the light tour!!!!!

I'm not too happy about the prices either, but my family does an annual bus trip to see the lights and it's much cheaper to take a group of 40-50 people to Lake Lanier and pay by the bus versus paying by each person at Stone Mountain or Calloway.

My family has been going to the light show for the past decade. We have enjoyed this Christmas tradition for all those years. We have watched the park grow and remodel a few times, but have never seen the prices go this high - $60. Looks like this tradition would have to come to a stop. I cannot afford these prices this year; maybe it is time to start a new tradition at Stone Mountain - $8 entry fee.

December 10, 2009

I brought my girlfriend and I to the Magical Nights of Lights this year and surpisingly had a lot of fun. We really enjoyed all the new lights and it actually looks like a resort. It was either we pay $60 dollars for Lake Laniers show or we pay a $10 dollar gate fee at stone mountain then have to pay $26 dollar a person to get into stone mtn to actually see the village and have to wait in line in the cold to get pictures with Santa. Not happening especially paying for food that cost like 15 dollars just for two slices of pizza and 2 drinks. Our pictures turned out great with the Santa at Lake Lanier and overall had awesome time. We even rented Christmas movies after we were in such the Christmas Spirit.

December 11, 2009

I have checked into all of the above mentioned activities...Stone Moutnain, Nights of Lights, etc...and Stone Mountain is NOT 8.00 entry fee...it is 28.00 per person, and 21.00 for children under 3...that does not include the shows, Santa, food, etc. Once you are in the park and the lights event, you have to pay for more stuff. For a family of 4 to go to Stone Mountain it would cost us $80.00, and that includes a child under 3. I understand all of you who have gone many years to the Magical Night of Lights, but lets be honest here...for those who haven't been and don't want to pay 80.00 for Stone Mountain...53.00 per CARLOAD is not too bad. You can get 9 people in a car for that price...try getting that many people in Stone Mountain or Calloway for that. I am not discounting their shows, because I am sure they are beautiful...but why be so hard on Lake Lanier?

0

December 11, 2009

I'm sorry, but we can't afford these prices. There are too many other light displays around that are so much less expensive. I can't believe that raising the rates and lowering the amount of people coming was really the best idea you could come up with in these economic times. My daughters and I do this every year. Their dad is recovering from cancer, and we have very little money. We are struggling to make any part of Christmas normal this year, and not being able to do the little things like this, is only making it worse. Thanks for taking the light dispalys away too. At least we know that the people making money off of this will be having a Merry Christmas. Hope everyone else does to.

This is insane.....smilies/angry.gif I mean most of us can not go during the week due to working Oh and the kids have school,so punish us for doing what we need to do to survive by hiking the price $20 on the weekend nights. Oh and are you guys aware that the economy has crashed and several of your previous customers are now unemployed!! So yes they can afford to pay you even more to see your lights. It was already ridiculous that we had to pay $40 and then all the extra stuff at the end that should be included. I mean I know you cant give away all that food for free but for $40 a car you would think the kids could ride rides...well anyway We are not going....And for everyone else that feels the same way take your precious children to LIFE chiropractic college , its $5 and you can keep going threw if you want and do like we do stop at QT and get some hot cocoa before you get there and roll down your windows as they have huge caroling bells playing Christmas music as you ride thru.....Merry Christmas to All and to you folks at Lake Lanier get over your selves you have 3 huge sponsors that we all give money too alreadysmilies/tongue.gif

$60.00 is really high to ride through to see lights. I am only working four days a week and my husband is one of those Construction people who is not working now. We wanted to entertain our 4 year old Grandson from Savannah on Saturday but don't think we can come for $60.00. If the prices are higher because of the weekend, it not fair. Saturday is the only time some of us can come. Be reasonable these are hard times!!

I haven't been yet and was considering it for the family. In case you haven't looked into it, the price for a carload on Mon - Thur is NOT $60.00; it is FORTY. If you book on line it is $33. Don't be a dumbass and pay $60! $40 for my crowd of 8 means $5 each. Pretty cheap compared to Callaway and Stone Mtn. I'd say!

I recently moved to Georgia from New York .. I was looking for a place to take my family to see exceptional Christmas lights. This looks to be a great display .. however in my opinion, the prices are a bit steep for these economic times. We are use to paying $8/car to go to Lights on the Lake in Liverpool NY but that's only 2 miles of lights. Those 2 miles are packed with lights though. I agree with Mary Ellen, these prices are much cheaper than the other two places mentioned. I also agree with some of the other people .. we all have free will do either go or not .. no need in putting them down for setting the prices they see fit .. they have expenses to cover too. smilies/smiley.gif

I was wondering why I hadn't seen any advertising for the lights this year...now I know why. Holy Cow! Time to start a new Christmas Eve tradition after 15 years...maybe throwing dollar bills into the fireplace will be cheaper.

I agree, after many holidays at a reasonable price Lake Lanier has gotten to big for there britches. How RIDICULOUS to charge such an astronomical price to see Christmas Lites which have been the same for years. I hope they loose out this year and become unavailable to pay the electric bill for those beautiful lights. GREED is all I have to say in these economic times which are so hard for so many.

Well it's Christmas Eve folks. I hope that Lake Lanier Islands got the message from all of us. Attendance should be way down and complaints should be way up! The guy selling boiled peanuts(Owner) should apologize for the way he was trying to take advantage of us. We know who you are and going to the Islands this year by lake or land will be curtailed. I would think that a response from him would be appropriate. Comments please.

Remember people, this is a BUSINESS, not a right or entitlement. Every business owner has the right to charge what they choose - it's capitalism as it's intended to work. If they charge too much the market will correct that. I mean I would love a Ferrari but just cause I can't afford one doesn't mean it's not fair I can't have one.

Think about it though, if you go to a movie you pay $10 per person. Well put 5 people in a car and the most expensive night for the lights is only a bit higher than a movie, and here you can bring in your own food and drink. Get a grip everyone.
