CJ Wilson- Texas Rangers, Relief Pitcher Blogs for Road Atlanta

Most of my year is spent traveling from place to place, playing baseball…from about Valentine's Day to October 1st each year my schedule is pretty booked. It's obviously a phenomenal career- but hey let me be honest- it's hard on the "family, friends, free time” segment. The only real complaint or thing I miss during the spring and summer each year is the opportunity to follow, attend or participate in motorsports. I love watching the American Le Mans Series, and the last two years I've been able to see the season ending event in October at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

Off the field, (and actually since I was a little kid attending midget races on oval dirt tracks) I'm an enormous fan of cars, driving, and the whole world of racing. A lot of my teammates play fantasy football, but my fall and winter months are geared toward getting out to see the country and race (or watch races) here and there at some of the most famous tracks in the world…schedule permitting. It's a new pursuit, but one I've always been passionate about, even as a child. Inevitably this passion (or hobby of course) has brought me in the last two years out to Road Atlanta.    >>>More

GAINESVILLE - A memorial service is planned next week for Dave Sloyer, a Cleveland businessman and the designer and founder of Road Atlanta.

Sloyer died last week at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a long illness.

Sloyer was a Kansas native with an aerospace background who raced cars on the side. His love for automobile racing was a driving force in his life. After pulling his race cars all over the country doing club races, he decided to build a race track at home, so in 1969 Road Atlanta was born. >>>More
