IndyCar Star Power at Petit Le Mans as Dixon and Franchitti Join the Fray!

Scott Dixon will return to the cockpit of the de Ferran Motorsports XM Acura ARX-02a for Petit Le Mans powered by Mazda6. The reigning IndyCar champion will be driving with team owner Gil de Ferran and Simon Pagenaud, four-time winners this year in the American Le Mans Series' LMP1 class, in the annual 1,000-mile/10-hour endurance classic at Road Atlanta on September 26.

Former Indy 500 champion Dario Franchitti will also return to Petit Le Mans with the Patrón Highcroft Racing team, completing a three-driver line-up with current American Le Mans Series points leaders David Brabham and Scott Sharp. Franchitti returns to the scene of his debut with the team, having raced alongside Brabham and sharp in the Patrón-backed LMP2 class Acura last season.

Acura Ready To Battle Audi And Peugeot

The question all of sports car racing wants to know is two weeks from having an answer. Just how will Acura's two LMP1 entries fare in a rematch with Audi and Peugeot at Petit Le Mans powered by Mazda6? The first and only time the three marques competed in the same class came at Sebring in March, an epic duel between Audi and Peugeot - the sport's two diesel powers. Acura, which debuted its ARX-02a, saw both Patrón Highcroft Racing and de Ferran Motorsports retire three-quarters through the race.
