Lake Lanier is currently at 1071.61 which is over half a foot higher than the lake was 2 days ago.  The area around the lake has been drenched in soaking rains since last night.  The water level at Lake Lanier is expected to continue to climb well into tomorrow with runoff from streams that feed Lake Lanier.   The COE is holding back water in Lake Lanier to minimize flooding downstream.  Some areas south of Lake Lanier are under flood warnings.
