Lake Lanier and Georgia’s Special Olympics

Written by

Supporters of Georgia’s Special Olympics will be riding the wind on Lake Lanier September 11-13th during the Sail for Champions event. The race is open to all sailing enthusiasts for participation - and spectators are also encouraged to come watch the fun.

Each year, Special Olympics Georgia is fortunate to partner with the Southern Sailing Club to host  our annual Open Sailing Regatta.  This year, the event will take place on the weekend of September 11-13 at Sunrise Cove Marina on Lake Lanier.

Sail for Champions fee includes skipper registration and reception on Friday afternoon, sailing on Saturday with a skipper’s party and reception in the evening, and more sailing on Sunday with an awards ceremony.

The tax-deductable registration fee is $250. Skippers are encouraged to seek donations from their local communities, friends, family members, co-workers, employees, and many others. The skipper who raises the most money wins 2 AirTran tickets and an additional package forth coming!

If you are not interested in racing or cruising during Sail for Champions, have your boat washed! Pricing is based upon length. For more details and to register for the boat wash online, visit http://www.specialolympicsga.org
