The 1071 has it's 2nd Annual Meeting on Tuesday October 27th.
So Carol Couch won't be there ... the head of Georgia's Environmental Protection Division has resigned. Its no secret why she had been the originally invited to speak - until now she had led the state in negotiations with Florida and Alabama.
She has made the occasional odd decision during the years but it seems as if the main Lake Lanier advocates will actually miss her. I guess we'll find out more tomorrow.
Harold Reheis will be the new featured speaker - he held Crouch's former job from 1991 to 2003.
The meeting is from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Legacy Lodge Conference Center on Lake Lanier Islands Resort.
After a quiet start the 1071 Coalition seems to be moving forward steadily with a study of how low lake levels affect the local economy. They also seem to be pushing a good long-term message ... Lake Lanier is at full pool now is nice, but it doesn't mean much if we don't fix the lake's long-term prospects.
