US Canoe / Kayak Sprint Nationals on Lake Lanier

The 2009 USA Canoe / Kayak Sprint National Championships will take place at the Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club this weekend. The races will be at the LCKC facility on Clarks Bridge Road in Gainesville.

Approximately 300 athletes from all across the United States and from several other countries are expected for the three days of competition between August 20th and 23rd.

In addition to individual honors, the athletes will be vying to bring the title of National Champion Team home to their club. The Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club has a strong pedigree in the competition, having won this title seven times in the past twelve years.

Volunteers are still needed for the event. They will need approximately 4 boats -  two deckboats or pontoons and two smaller boats (jon/tracker style) for safety boats.
