Community Effort Reopens Boat RampBefore last week, only Tidwell Park and Shoal Creek Park still have open boat ramps but theres now one more thanks to a great community effort ... Clarks Bridge Park.

Lake Lanier Rowing Club provided $1000, local businesses have donated $2800 in cash and $3000 in supplies. The boat ramp was left dry as water levels dropped and needed extra concrete to reach the new low water level.

Kerry Hicks, owner of Smokin’ Fisherman near Clermont, organized the effort and aims to open a second ramp at Clarks Bridge shortly.

The Rowing Club has suffered along with local businesses. Lake Lanier usually hosts 12 different university rowing teams during the season, including Yale University and Canadian colleges. However, only 6 will come this year. In a normal year 1,100 students travel to the lake each year to gear up for the racing season, and use local hotels, gas stations and restaurants during their stay.
