Protest About Lake Lanier Water Levels on Saturday Print

Buford Dam A new group is planning a protest about Lake Lanier water levels at Buford Dam on Saturday.

The new group is called "Save Lake Lanier".

To be honest, they don't look one tenth as professional as the Lake Lanier Association which has done a great job of supporting the interest of lake users for many years. The press release on their site is FULL OF CAPITAL LETTERS!!!!!!!!, over-the-top hyperbole and speling mistkes. Their plan is to get into the Chattahoochee river when the water is released from the dam in the hope that the Corps will consider the release too dangerous and postpone it.

Still, anything that can put more publicity and pressure on the Corps is welcome. The meeting is at "the boatramp on west side of the Chattahoochee, at the base of Buford Dam." I think they mean Lower Overlook Park. It is this Saturday, starting at 8:00 a.m.
